A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS
The Young Driver programme is an exciting and inventive concept, which I believe can deliver real road safety benefits. It is the perfect place for our youthful, dynamic and sporty Ibiza. The opportunity to support a scheme which not only promises such an exciting experience for young people, but also brings with it the chance to help prepare kids for life out on the open road, is one we simply could not turn down. Im convinced the very warm reception that the Young Driver project has already received will be repeated across the country when the venture goes live nationwide over the coming months.
Steve Robertson, Head of Marketing, SEAT UK
Admiral is delighted to be on board as sponsor of the Young Driver programme. As an insurer, we are only too aware of the high accident rate among young motorists. The aim of the Young Driver programme is to educate young people to be better drivers and to give them vital experience before they drive on road. After all, being under the legal age to drive on the road isnt a barrier to gaining experience and be properly educated about responsible driving. From a parents point of view, the Young Driver programme is also an excellent way to introduce the under 17s to good driving practice in a safe environment. While for the young people attending the programme, they get to feel exactly what it is like to drive a car in an informative and fun way.
One in five drivers is involved in a crash in their first six months of driving [1]. It’s this shocking figure that has led tyre manufacturer Goodyear to announce details of its road safety initiatives to tackle this issue. One of these initiatives is the sponsorship of Young Driver which we are delighted to be involved in.
Sue Longthorn, Managing Director, Admiral Insurance
The sponsorship is part of a larger road safety initiative by the brand called Driving Academy. The Academy sees teenagers learn elements of The Highway Code before putting their knowledge to the test in an interactive online driving experience, which puts them behind the wheel to confront road hazards. The academy has been pitched successfully to schools across the UK and will enrich the national curriculum as part of their lessons in citizenship.
This Goodyear initiative goes from behind the screen to behind the wheel with a fully comprehensive introduction to driving for youngsters. We believe that the sponsorship of young driver is crucial to the success of this.

We are delighted to be able to support Young Driver to help make the programme as inclusive as possible. The adapted cars with hand controls, will give wheelchair users a fantastic opportunity to enjoy exactly the same driving activities as other youngsters. The whole Young Driver experience is hugely entertaining, great fun but importantly, its also a real confidence booster.
