My lesson is affected due to lockdown. What happens now?

If your lesson is affected due to a lockdown, we will contact you via email. Please check your email inbox and junk box. The email will give you details on how to reschedule the lesson to a different date and time. We are committed to making sure that no-one misses out their Young Driver lesson and have secured additional dates at our venues in 2021. We will do our best to accommodate you.

How do I know my lesson won’t be cancelled again?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that a lesson won’t be cancelled again. However, we are doing our utmost to accommodate everyone and making sure that all lessons are rescheduled to an alternative date. We have secured extra dates at all venues in 2021, so don’t worry, the lesson will take place!

How are you making lessons safe?

Young Driver has delivered over 45,000 driving lessons since July 2020, i.e. during the pandemic.

We are able to do this largely because our activities take place outside, where the risk of infection is much less as families are able to check in and watch lessons outdoors.

Obviously, the driving lessons themselves take place in cars and we have received comprehensive advice from our medical consultant on the correct procedures and PPE to keep our customers and staff safe.

You will see that we are operating with the windows fully or partially open to ensure fresh air in the cars and we don’t use the air conditioning or fans in the cars. Most importantly, we ensure that all of our staff and customers wear face masks when inside the cars and sanitise their hands before every lesson.

We also sanitise every car between every lesson.

Are you following Government and Public Health guidelines?

Yes we are. Young Driver is committed to providing a safe experience for our customers. We're delighted to announce that we've been awarded the ‘We’re Good to Go’ Covid-19 industry standard and charter mark by Visit Britain.

This means that we have adhered to Government and public health guidance, and have all the required processes in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all.

I bought a voucher directly from Young Driver and it is about to expire. Will I lose my voucher?

No. Don’t panic! You can still book a lesson at any available date and venue. To view available lessons, please head to www.youngdriver.com/book or give us a call on 0333 577 9010 and we’ll help you out.

Can I be refunded for a lesson?

What do I need to bring to a lesson?

All customers and spectators must bring a face covering. There is no need to bring anything else. We have hand sanitiser at check-in and in the cars.

How many people can I bring to a lesson?

All customers must follow the current government guidance limiting spectators to a maximum of six people (including the driver). Please keep visiting spectators to a minimum to avoid any overcrowding on site and to help with social distancing.

Do drivers need to wear a face covering?

It is company policy that all participants wear a face covering. We have a duty of care to our staff to keep them safe and to prevent the spread of the virus.

Are the driving instructors wearing face coverings?

Yes all driving instructors and hosts are wearing face coverings to prevent the spread of the virus.

My child attended Young Driver and has since tested positive. What do I do?

You should alert your relevant track and trace organisation and give them the telephone number for Young Driver. They will call us and we can ensure they have the details for our driving instructor. They won’t state your name for reasons of confidentiality, but it is important that our instructor isolates to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

What happens if the driver has to self isolate and can't make the lesson?

Please let us know as soon as you can and we will reschedule your lesson to an alternative date, free of charge.

Can a parent / guardian sit in the back of the car whilst the lesson is taking place?

Unfortunately, we are not currently allowing passengers to sit in the back of the car. If your child needs someone in the back of the car for medical reasons, please contact us on 0333 577 9010 and we will check with individual instructors to see if we can accommodate this. Please note that this may not be possible.
