DIA Learning project on behalf of Highways England and DfT

News

DIA Learning Project

Highways England and the Driving Instructors Association (DIA) have teamed up in an attempt to find out more about what learner or new drivers think about driving on motorways.

After the announcement at the beginning of the year allowing learner drivers to practice on motorways under government plans to improve road safety, motorway driving has remained a hot topic.

Under current rules, drivers are permitted on motorways only after they have passed their test, though there is no mandatory training for the 70mph roads.

Highways England and DIA will use the results from the survey to develop new training resources to help those who are just learning to drive or have just passed their test feel more confident about driving on high-speed roads.
